Santorini is literally the most amazing place that I’ve ever been to. After a week living on a boat and exploring the Greek islands, Santorini was the perfect place to finish. Although almost everyone from the boat was getting sick by this stage, we were all looking forward to seeing the iconic Greek island.
On our journey through Greece we visited Athens, Mykonos, Paros and Ios before finishing in Santorini and flying back to London from the very small Santorini airport.
When you first arrive to the island of Santorini, you are greeted by huge cliffs and can only just see the pearly white glow of the buildings which the island is most well known for. A short gondola (or donkey) ride up to the top, and your right in the thick of the central town.
Central Santorini is like most of the other islands, lots of small shops line the narrow streets and restaurants make the most of the amazing views to enjoy sunset.
The sunset is arguably what Santorini is most well known for, so we made sure that we witnessed at least one while we were there. We stayed two nights on the boat off the coast, spending the days exploring as much of the island as we could.
Oia
Oia is perhaps the most famous part of Santorini, where thousands of people gather every evening to watch the sunset across the ocean. To get out to Oia and to see some of the island, our group hired a couple of cars. We spent the day swimming and taking in the sights before enjoy the views at Oia.
Some of the photos below are my favourites from our entire trip. The views, the sun, the buildings and the people that we were with in Santorini made for an awesome couple of days. The perfect place to finish a 6 week sprint around Europe.
Until next time,
